AWC a finalist in prestigious "Best Practice Non-profit" Award

April 2010: AWC is honoured to have been selected as a finalist in the Givewell Best Practice Not-for-profit Award.

AWC is one of 5 finalists for this prestigious award which is now in its sixth year. The criteria for the award were developed from donor expectations of what makes a "good" not-for-profit: they focus on issues such as the ability to deal with significant problems in a tangible way, as well as good governance and accountability.

This is AWC's second consecutive selection as a finalist. The Fred Hollows Foundation is the most recent winner of the award. One of the factors that contributed to AWC's selection as a finalist is its commitment to deploying resources where it really counts - in the field.

Around 80% of AWC's staff are based in the field, which makes AWC unique among conservation organisations and provides supporters with a high level of confidence that their donations are making a difference "on the ground".
